Policy on academic integrity and publication ethics

Publication ethics is an important tool for ensuring the quality of publications and building the reputation of the journal. It is based on the recommendations of COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) and other internationally approved standards of ethical behavior for all participants in the publishing industry (authors, reviewers, editors, publishers and publishers) and is aimed at supporting an ethical culture in scientific publications, as well as stimulating professional discussions to resolve ethical issues and promote ethical practice as a norm.

All persons involved in the journal publication process (editors, authors and reviewers, others) must be guided by key aspects of publication ethics.

Key aspects of publication ethics:

  • authorship and plagiarism (recognition of the contribution of authors, avoidance of theft of other people's intellectual property);
  • conflict of interest (observance of transparency regarding any personal or financial interests that may influence the content of the publication);
  • reliability and accuracy (checking facts, ensuring accuracy of information and avoiding the spread of false information);
  • confidentiality (ensuring the protection of personal data and confidential information);
  • compliance with copyrights (respect for intellectual property rights and obtaining necessary permissions for the use of materials);
  • fairness (ensuring equal opportunities for all participants in the process and avoiding discrimination);
  • peer review (compliance with ethical standards during the peer review process, which implies objectivity and impartiality).

Principles of professional ethics for participants in the publishing process

Editorial Board and Publisher

The editorial board of the journal is responsible for the publication of author's materials, which requires compliance with the following fundamental principles:

  • the reliability of the presented data and their scientific and practical significance.
  • evaluation of the intellectual content of manuscripts regardless of the race, gender, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, origin, citizenship, social status or political preferences of the authors;
  • preventing members of the editorial board from using unpublished data from materials submitted for consideration for personal purposes or transferring them to third parties;
  • ensuring confidentiality;
  • preventing plagiarism;
  • together with the publisher, preventing claims regarding reviewed manuscripts or published materials from going unanswered, as well as taking all necessary measures to restore violated rights if a conflict situation is identified.

Reviewers

The reviewer's actions must be impartial, which consists in adhering to the following principles:

  • confidentiality: a manuscript received for review should be considered a confidential document that cannot be transferred for review or discussion to third parties;
  • objectivity and reasoning: the reviewer is obliged to give an objective and reasoned assessment of the presented research results, not the author (personal criticism of the author is unacceptable);¾the reviewer must also inform the editorial office and ask the editorial office to exclude him from the review process of certain materials if he considers his qualifications insufficient for its assessment or in case of a conflict of interest;
  • the unacceptability of the reviewer using unpublished data from manuscripts submitted for review for personal purposes.

Author/authors of scientific publications

The author(s) must be aware of their primary responsibility for the novelty and reliability of the results of scientific research, which involves their adherence to the following principles:

  • providing reliable results of conducted research, inadmissibility of presenting knowingly false or falsified results and statements;
  • guarantee of originality of research results;¾indication of the original sources of borrowed fragments or statements;inadmissibility of excessive borrowing and plagiarism in any form, including unformatted quotations, paraphrasing or assignment of rights to the results of other people's research;
  • identifying the contribution of all individuals who in one way or another influenced the course of the research, in particular, providing references to works that were important for the research;
  • inadmissibility of submitting to the journal materials that have already been sent for publication to another journal and are under consideration or have already been published in other journals;
  • the obligation to indicate as co-authors all persons who made a significant contribution to the research and the inadmissibility of indicating as co-authors persons who did not participate in the research;

the obligation of the author to notify the editorial office as soon as possible if the author discovers significant errors or inaccuracies in the materials at the stage of their review or after publication.
